My self is important. My self-care is essential. I listen to my body for it knows what it needs. I make nutritional choices that nourish my body and I keep well hydrated. I move my body every day in a way that honours my physical abilities. I make choices that encourage self-care and support my well-being.

This week’s reminder is simple. Be nice to the body and it will be nice to you. Self-care is not rocket science it’s just plain old common sense. What we put in our bodies translates directly to our health. The food we consume, the beverages we drink, the media we consume, the books we read, the music we listen to, the supplements we take…they all influence our body, mind and spirit. This week we are encouraged to take stock of how we are looking after ourselves. What do we need more of? What do we need less of? Some days I start my day by asking my body “what do you need today?” Often, I am surprised by the response. I might crave protein, or feel like I need more water or need yoga instead of weights that day. It is an interesting conversation to have. Learning to listen to the body means that we are more equipped to make healthy choices.
