My breath is a direct reflection of my inner climate. I find comfort in its constant, automatic, rhythmic wave knowing that oxygen is pure fuel to my life force energy. Even in moments that are challenging, my breath never fails me. No matter where I find myself, my breath is with me everywhere I go. As I focus on my breath, I adjust my inner world. Just breathe.

Breath is simple. We do it even when we aren’t thinking about doing it. It’s completely unconscious. However, when we become conscious of the breath and do it intentionally, it becomes the quickest, most natural form of medicine there is. Did you know that in just 4 minutes of slow breathing (less than 8 breaths per minute) the body begins to produce hormones and chemicals that have the equivalent reaction as Valium in the brain? It really is a powerful way to calm the nervous system, relax the digestive system, soothe the circulatory system, steady the mind, fill the spirit, settle emotions and re-energize the body. This week we are reminded to breathe, no matter what we face, what we are challenged with, how the world shakes down in a day…just breathe. We have all kinds of breathing tips here at Therapeutic Grace – feel free to reach out if you would like to learn a technique that is simple and easy and will fit right into your day-to-day life without eating up more of your to-do list!
Breathe intentionally and reap the rewards of this powerful medicine!
