“Nonreaction to the ego in others is one of the most effective ways not only of going beyond ego in yourself but also dissolving the collective human ego.”
Read that again. I had to. I didn’t get it the first couple of times, and that is okay. When we work with cards such as this, sometimes the message is in the feeling they generate, sometimes in the thoughts that surface, sometimes the card is a direct message and sometimes we are left to ponder its meaning for us specifically. I think this is one of those cards that will speak to each of us differently. Our relationship with ego is a very personal thing. Where some may resist or try to stamp down ego, others may embrace ego as a partner and yet others may choose to allow ego to rule their world. I tend to work with ego as a team-mate, like a partnership – my humanness (ego) is the vehicle and my Spirit wants to do good work – neither can happen without the other. The trouble I often find myself in is when ego tries to be the boss and it takes the attention away from the good work of the Spirit. Most often this happens when ego decides to step into judgement (also part of being human). So when I read the card from this week, I can’t help but exchange the word judgement for the word ego. Read it again, that way. Enough to give one pause, right?!
This week, we are encouraged to be okay with where we are, regardless of how we think others see us, let go of judgement and just be non-reactionary when others step into that arena. Just because they want to play that way, doesn’t mean that you have to. You do you, and I will do me, and we will be freer for it.
