Affirmations are a powerful place to start when we are learning to flip the script that we play on repeat in our own minds – especially if it is unhealthy messaging. Interrupting those patterned thoughts is the first step to reclaiming our mindset. Some spiritual teachings indicate that it takes 68 seconds of repetitive thought to begin to generate new neurological pathways in the brain. Once a pathway is laid, each time we revisit the thought or affirmation the more powerful we give the pathway (ourselves) and after time this becomes our anchored point of reality.
Affirmations are an introduction to powerful incantations. I love how Tony Robbins speaks of inCANtations as opposed to inCANTations. It reminds us that as we enter into intentional mind rewiring that we must use powerful language, in the present and positive tense. No wishing, no hoping, no deserving…spoken as if it is already ours, here and now and we are reaping the rewards already. How we think and feel today is predictive of all of our future moments.
This week we are encouraged to watch our thoughts, to intentionally lay positive, powerful and present pathways in our minds so that we can move forward fearlessly on our journey.
