Eternal Love

“Help me perceive all of the love that surrounds me so that I can feel safe receiving, expressing and giving love.

Welcome to summer where love and life abound! The sun is shining, skies are blue, the flowers are blooming, the trees are alive, the bugs are buzzing and the winds are warm. It is easy to find and see the beauty around us, and yet for some of us we forget to notice the beauty within. As a woman, wife and mother, I often notice that it is way easier to give, help and serve others than it is to be on the receiving end of love and help. I often minimize the chore to let others off the hook of helping me, or I don’t ask for help because it is just easier to do it myself, or I deflect the compliment with “oh, it was nothing”. What I have come to realize is that when I engage in receiving love this way, I am actually rejecting it. So I find myself wondering ‘am I not worth love and help?’ Am I actually punishing myself, or making life more difficult by not asking for or allowing help to arrive? How is it that everyone else around me is worthy of receiving my goodness and love, but I am not worthy to receive theirs? Is the love I am offering the world better than the love that the world is offering me? Whoa! Hold the phone! We are all created in the same Divine image, with same Divine capacity to love one another, wholly, unconditionally and eternally. This week, we are reminded not only that we are all equals, travelling the earth together, but that we are all worthy of both giving AND receiving love. Take a moment and take stock, notice how you respond to compliments, notice how you respond to the offers of help, notice how you ask for help. And then, give yourself permission to receive. After a kind act, instead of saying “it was nothing” acknowledge it for what it is and say “it was my pleasure.” Allow love in, and keep your tanks full…and in turn you will find that life will bring you more opportunities to give…and to receive.
