This week’s reminder is simple. Be nice to the body and it will be nice to you. Self-care is not rocket science, it’s just plain old common sense. What we put in our bodies translates directly to our health. The food we consume, the beverages we drink, the media we take in, the books we read, the music we listen to, the supplements we take, the clothes we wear…they all influence our body, mind and spirit. This week we are encouraged to take stock of how we are looking after ourselves. What do we need more of? What do we need less of?
I start my day with three questions:
Body, what do you need today?
Mind, what do you need today?
Soul, what do you need today?
The answers to these questions are often very simple – water, quiet time, connection or protein, journaling, meditation or movement, organization, prayer…nevertheless, the answers become my priorities for the day. It is an interesting conversation to have. Learning to listen to the body means that we are more equipped to make healthy choices. Be brave. Ask the question and listen for your answers. It’s a beautiful way to love yourself.
