“As I choose thoughts of thankfulness, I am consciously signaling the cells of my body into a state of wellness. Gratitude is the gateway to health, happiness, and peace; it is the precursor to loving unconditionally. Everywhere I look I fill my heart with appreciation and thanksgiving.”
Gratitude is a feeling. A powerful feeling that can shift us from one state to the next. Did you know that practicing gratitude by sitting in the feeling of gratitude and appreciation for four minutes will actually trigger your body to produce DHEA? Why is that an important piece of science? DHEA is a natural combatant to the stress hormone cortisol – which happens to be out of control for most of the population being that we have been in a state of pandemic stress for almost a year now. By and large, our systems are overtaxed, overworked and exhausted. We need all the help we can get right now, and what a great way to help ourselves. Shifting our mindset to gratitude and appreciation will not only help us manage our stress better, but it will also expand our thinking and our perception to seek out the things that bring us pleasure and happiness. In these trying times of lockdowns, lack of sunlight, financial insecurity and more, sometimes the best help we can receive is the help we give ourselves. This week we are challenged to challenge our mindset and to seek out all the things that we are most thankful for. It isn’t a moment, its a movement. Go ahead, fill your hearts and reap the rewards. I dare you.
