“In meditation we eventually begin to see “gaps” between our thoughts. These gaps are sacred. These gaps are opportunities for our authentic self to bubble up into our consciousness and eventually into our lives. Is it time to meditate?”
As we move into the busy Christmas Season, finding quiet moments to ourselves is important to our sanity, and self-preservation. It is a common misconception that we require lots of time in order to meditate, when in fact, to achieve the initial benefits of meditation we need only 4 minutes. 4 minutes of intentional breathwork, is enough to trigger chemical responses in the brain that tell the body it is safe to move into rest and repair. 4 minutes. Now, I don’t know about you, but I can scrounge up 4 minutes in my day to get quiet and breathe. The benefits of meditation are endless, but my favorite benefit of all are the “gaps”. This is where our authentic selves bubble up to the surface, where there is nothingness and wholeness and oneness at the same time. It truly is an incredible experience. This week, we are encouraged to get in the gap, take a few moments and meditate. Let the busyness of the season go, and enjoy quiet.
