“Holding on to what you believe is important no matter what happens. It is a belief or value that you hold on to no matter how often you are tested or become distracted.”
Believing in something that you can’t see, but know to be true…faith. When I was a little girl, my Sunday School Teacher had us take a nice deep breath together as a class. She asked us “what did you just take into your body?” The answer was simple, “air” or “oxygen”. And then she asked us a deep and pivotal question, “how do you know that?” That made us ponder for a moment. Because what actual proof did we have that we just took in oxygen? Sure, our lungs filled with something and they expanded, but how do we know for sure? She then explained to us that Faith is much like the oxygen that we breathe. We know it is there sustaining us, even if we can’t see it. It was an analogy that has stayed with me all these years. I have no “proof” of Divine, but I do have a collection of events, miracles and moments in my life that have no explanation other than Divine Intervention. I have a feeling, in the quiet moments that there is something bigger than me at work in the world and within us. There has been a lot of unrest in the world over religious beliefs, but be clear that I am not referencing religion. It matters not to me what you call that Power that is bigger than you…God, Buddha, Allah, Creator, Higher Self, Mother Earth, Father Sky, Universe…what matters is that you feel connected to and through something that matters to you. Something that encourages you to be your best self, to serve others, to spread goodness, love and joy to all those you meet. Something that lets you know you aren’t alone. Something that connects you to All There Is. This week, step into your Faith, whatever that is for you, take a breath and trust that all is, as it should be. Even if you can’t see it.
